Financial Services is a term used to refer to the services provided by the finance market. Financial Services is also the term used to describe organizations that deal with the management of money. Examples are the Banks, investment banks, insurance companies, credit card companies and stock brokerages.

It is part of financial system that provides different types of finance through various credit instruments, financial products and services.

These are the types of firms comprising the market, that provide a variety of money and investment related services. These services are the largest market resource within the world, in terms of earnings.

The challenges faced by the these services market are forcing the market participants to keep pace with technological advances, and to become more proactive and efficient while keeping in mind to reduce costs and risks.

These Services have been able to represent an significantly significant financial driver, and a significant consumer of a wide range of business services and products. The current Fortune 500 has listed 40 commercial banking companies with revenues of almost a $ 341 trillion, up a modest 3% since last year.

Importance of Financial Services: –

It serves as the bridge that people need to take better control of their finances and make better investments. The financial services offered by a financial planner or a bank institution can help people manage their money much better. It offer clients the opportunity to understand their goals and better plan for them.

It is the presence of financial services that enables a country to improve its economic condition whereby there is more production in all the sectors leading to economic growth.

The benefit of economic growth is reflected on the people in the form of economic prosperity wherein the individual enjoys higher standard of living. It is here the financial services enable an individual to acquire or obtain various consumer products through hire purchase. In the process, there are a number of financial institutions which also earn profits. The presence of these financial institutions promote investment, production, saving etc.

Characteristics: –

Customer-Specific: These services are usually customer focused. The firms providing these services, study the needs of their customers in detail before deciding their financial strategy, giving due regard to costs, liquidity and maturity considerations.

Intangibility: In a highly competitive global environment brand image is very crucial. Unless the financial institutions providing financial products and services have good image, enjoying the confidence of their clients, they may not be successful.

Concomitant: Production of these services and supply of these services have to be concomitant. Both these functions ie production of new and innovative financial services and supplying of these services are to be performed simultaneously.

Tendency to Perish: Unlike any other service, financial services do tend to perish and hence cannot be stored. They have to be supplied as required by the customers. Hence financial institutions have to ensure a proper synchronization of demand and supply.

People Based Services: Marketing of these services has to be people intensive and hence it's subjected to variability of performance or quality of service.

Market Dynamics: The market dynamics depends to a great extent, on socioeconomic changes such as disposable income, standard of living and educational changes related to the various classes of customers. Therefore financial services have to be constantly redefined and refined taking into consideration the market dynamics.

Promoting investment: The presence of these services creates more demand for products and the producer, in order to meet the demand from the consumer goes for more investment.

Promoting savings: These services such as mutual funds provide ample opportunity for different types of saving. In fact, different types of investment options are made available for the convenience of pensioners as well as aged people so that they can be assured of a reasonable return on investment without much risks.

Minimizing the risks: The risks of both financial services as well as producers are minimized by the presence of insurance companies. Various types of risks are covered which not only offer protection from the fluctuating business conditions but also from risks caused by natural calamities.

Maximizing the Returns: The presence of these services enables businessmen to maximize their returns. This is possible due to the availability of credit at a reasonable rate. Producers can avail various types of credit facilities for acquiring assets. In certain cases, they can even go for leasing of certain assets of very high value.

Benefit to Government: The presence of these services enables the government to raise both short-term and long-term funds to meet both revenue and capital spending. Through the money market, government raises short term funds by the issue of Treasury Bills. These are purchased by commercial banks from out of their depositors' money.

Capital Market: One of the barometers of any economy is the presence of a vibrant capital market. If there is hectic activity in the capital market, then it is an indication of the presence of a positive economic condition. These services ensure that all the companies are able to acquire adequate funds to boost production and to reap more profits eventually.

Home Design – Three Types on Two Story Homes

It is an over simplification to say that there are only three types of two story homes but the vast majority of the mid priced homes follow simple logical patterns that divide homes into three basic types. By asking questions of your customers it is likely that you can guide them to one of these three types making design easier for you and still letting them believe the home has been customer designed just for them.

A typical home has either five or six rooms on the first floor; kitchen, breakfast, family room, living room, dining room and sometimes a den. The kitchen and breakfast area are next to each other for obvious reasons and in nearly every case adjacent to the family room. Because kitchen is more enclosed due to cabinets and cooking areas the breakfast area is almost always between the kitchen and family room. While I have done the opposite – kitchen separating the family room and breakfast – it has not worked as successfully. Even the home owner for whom I built it regretted the decision after the fact.

The kitchen-breakfast-family room area makes up the primary family living area. The family will spend most of its' waking time in these three rooms and even when entertaining this is the area most often used. For privacy these three rooms are nearly always at the back of the house away from the street.

The dining room will logically be next to the kitchen.

The resulting layout has the family room, breakfast and kitchen along the back of the house with the dining room in front of the house next to the kitchen and the living room the other side of the front door in the front of the house. This is a very functional and therefore popular plan. Nearly every builder has a version of this plan in their portfolio and it is usually their most popular five room plan.

This layout also places the family room adjacent to the living room. If the client likes having additional entertaining area you can open the living room to the dining room. If the family likes separate spaces so one member of the family can escape to read in the living room while the rest of the family watch action movies the family may want to close off the opening and create separate use areas.

If the family wants a "den" you need to determine why they need it. If it is to be an office work area with possible client visits the buyer will likely want the office den at the front of the house. If this is the case you put the family room behind the garage with the breakfast and kitchen along the back. To create more room at the front of the house the den is placed next to the kitchen but at the back of the house. The den office and the dining room are then placed either side of the front entry. If the dining room is placed next to the living room so that a single large room the dining room table can be expanded into the living room to accommodate large gatherings.

If the den is really a guest bedroom then the room can be created by sliding the garage forward and placing the family room behind the garage.

There are any numbers of variations most significantly the location of the powder room and first floor laundry, if desired, but the vast majority of two story homes will fit into one of these three templates. When we designed a custom or semi-custom home before we started the plans would ask the family a couple of questions:

If the family is usually together we would open up the family room to living room. If the family wanted two separate areas we would either close off the family room or put it on the opposite side of the house.

Select the first floor plan that meets their need and you have a semi-custom template from which to work.

Will Python Replace Java?

According to the most recent study, Java is currently more popular than other programming languages including Python. Likewise, according to the latest usage statistics posted on a popular Technology Survey site, Java is being used by 3.0% websites as a server-side programming language, whereas only 0.2% of websites use Python. However, many reports have highlighted that the usage and popularity of Python is growing consistently. So it becomes essential for programmers to understand some of the major differences between these two popular programming languages.

Understanding Important Differences between Java and Python

Both Java and Python are general purpose programming languages. While the former is a statically typed language wherein the programmers have to declare all variable names explicitly, the latter is looked upon as a dynamically typed language where developers are not required to declare variable names explicitly.

Java requires developers to write longer lines of code to accomplish common programming tasks. They also have to put in additional time and effort to organize, maintain and update the Java code base. On the other hand, syntax of Python enables developers to express concepts without writing longer lines of code. It further emphasizes on reusable and readable code generation. Thus, it becomes easier for programmers to maintain and update the code base.

Both the languages have been updated on a regular basis. The programmers can use Java 8 to avail a number of new features including lambda expressions, a new date / time API and a new functional interface. They can further switch from version 7 to version 8 of the programming language without any hassle. But developers often find it daunting to choose between Python 2.x and Python 3.x. Both the versions are being maintained in parallel and hence switching from Python 2.x to Python 3.x is found to be challenging.

Java makes it easier for programmers to create portable cross-platform applications. These applications can run on any device on which Java virtual machine (JVM) is running. On the other hand, the developers have to use a Python compiler to convert the code written in Python into code understandable by the specific operating system. As JVM is installed on many devices, the developers can run Java applications on various devices without requiring any specialized tools and compilers.

The performance and speed of the two programming languages differ. Many programmers have proved that Java is faster than Python. While it cannot be used to accomplish CPU-intensive tasks, developers often have at their disposal, a number of options to enhance the execution speed of Python. They have to replace Python's default runtime with CPython, PyPy or Cython to increase the execution speed significantly. On the other hand, the performance of the Java application can be easily optimized without using any additional tools.

Along with being a popular web technology, Java is also widely used for developing apps for the world's most popular mobile operating system, ie, Android. The Android SDK includes a number of standard Java libraries. The developers can easily create Android apps by taking advantage of networking, data structure, graphics, and math libraries. They can even avail a number of tools and frameworks to speed up Android app development. But those into Python development know that it cannot be used for mobile app development directly and exclusively. The developers have to use additional frameworks and tools to use it for mobile app development. Many programmers prefer developing mobile apps with Java to save both time and effort.

A number of reports have highlighted a steady increase in the popularity of JVM based languages like Scala. The modern age JVM languages are designed with features to help programmers to write concise, reusable and maintainable code within a shorter amount of time. Many programmers prefer these JVM languages to Java to reduce the amount of time and efforts required for building and maintaining a variety of modern applications.

The Affordable Alternative to Traditional Individual Health Insurance

As a way to begin let's define what I mean by traditional health insurance. The traditional health insurance policy is composed of:

The deductible – This is the amount that you have to pay for a medical event before your health insurance will start to pay. In today's world that deductible is often $ 3000 or more.

The coinsurance – After the deductible is met most policies require that the insured pay a percentage of all medical costs up to a maximum. Usually the insured pays anywhere from 20% to as much as 50% of every dollar billed.

The copays – In an attempt to make routine health care accessible many policies include a copay for doctor visits and prescriptions in lieu of having to meet a deductible. An example of this is the $ 10 office visit copay.

Maximum Out-Of-Pocket Costs – This is the most that an insured can expect to pay regardless of how large the medical bills are. As a general rule the maximum out-of-pocket costs for an individual are limited to around $ 7000. This can be a very misleading number because it assumes that all of your providers are in your network. If they are out of network your costs can be significantly higher.

And finally the "Network" – Virtually every traditional individual health insurance policy is tied to a network of providers. The narrower the healthcare network, the lower the premium. There is too much wrong with "networks" for this article. Suffice it to say that "networks" are the enemy of the healthcare consumer (you).

The Problem Facing Working Americans

The problem is simple: health insurance premiums are too high for most working Americans in the absence of a subsidy and when combined with extremely high deductible and out of pocket costs, healthcare becomes unaffordable. Let's look at a couple of examples right here in North Carolina.

A non-smoking couple ages 62 and 63 find that their lowest premium option with BCBS of NC is $ 1999 a month for a $ 13,300 family deductible with no copays. A plan with a $ 7000 deductible and $ 25 office visit copays would cost $ 2682 per month.

Assuming the least expensive plan the annual cost would be $ 23,988 annually. And if either person had a medical event such as cancer, the actual cost for healthcare would be $ 37,288. You have to ask: "Why even have health insurance?"

A non-smoking 30 year old couple found that the least expensive plan would cost $ 787.84 a month for a $ 13,300 family deductible with no copays. The least expensive plan that included copays was $ 1056.88 but had a $ 7000 deductible and the most restrictive network. Assuming the least expensive plan, should either member of this young couple have a medical event their total annual cost (deductible + premium) would be $ 16,454.08. That is a devastating amount of money for a young couple.

The simple solution to this problem is a Fixed Benefit Health Insurance. Unlike a major medical policy where the policy pays for all eligible expenses after the deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, a Fixed Benefit Health Insurance Policy states exactly how much will be paid for each specified service. Examples of specified services might include: daily benefit for in-hospital stay of 24 hours, specific dollar benefits for specified surgeries, a specific benefit for doctor visits and other specified charges. A great Fixed Benefit Health Insurance Policy will have very robust benefits, a wide range of specified covered charges, a very comprehensive surgical schedule and more. The most important service that Fixed Benefit Health Insurance Policy can include is medical bill negotiation, a service that can significantly reduce out-of-pocket expenses.

What is really great about this type of policy is that empowers the insured to be a better consumer. Knowing how much your policy will pay you for a specified medical service allows you to better shop and negotiate the price. But the really great thing about this policy is the affordable premium.

The couple ages 62 and 63 are an actual client of mine who had been uninsured for 5 years as a result of the high premiums. I was able to put them into a robust Fixed Benefit Health Insurance Policy with a $ 5,000,000 lifetime benefit for $ 683 a month. That is an annual savings of $ 15,792. As I explained to my client the Fixed Benefit Health Insurance Policy will do a great job of covering 70% to 80% of everything that can happen. If they actually saved the $ 15,792 difference in premium they would have incredible access to healthcare with very little out of their own pocket.

Back in 2014 I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had a partial removal of large intestine (CP44205). Back then I was covered on a traditional major medical policy. My total out-of-pocket costs were more than $ 7000. Had I had the Fixed Benefits Plan that I sell today not only would my costs have been zero but I would have received a check from the insurance company for $ 4619. Not every medical event would have resulted in a check and many might have resulted in out-of-pocket costs of several thousand dollars, but in general the savings would have more than offset those costs.

So, before you choose to go without any health insurance I strongly suggest that you take a hard look at a Fixed Benefit Health Insurance Policy.

Mr Bingley and Jane Bennet – A Forgotten Love Story?

When one thinks of Pride and Prejudice, especially in terms of it being a love story, everyone immediately thinks of Elizabeth and Mr Darcy. While I am not taking anything away from what a great love story this is there is another love story Pride and Prejudice which is often forgotten and overlooked and that is the story of Mr Bingley and Jane Bennet.

When Mr Bingley and Jane meet for the very first time at a ball in Meryton it is definitely a case of love at first sight as far as he is concerned and this is always a romantic start to a love story that has a happy ending. He is straight away struck by her beauty and immediately asks her to dance once they have been introduced. He does dance with some other young ladies that evening but it is obvious that Jane is far and above his favorite as he dances with her more than any other young lady. He communicates as much to Mr Darcy that evening by saying that she is the most beautiful creature that he has ever beheld and later defies Mr Darcy to make him think ill of Miss Bennet. It may not have been a case of love at first sight for Jane but it is clear that she likes him very much as she speaks of him in a very positive light to Elizabeth the next day saying that.

Bingley and Jane see much of each other in the forthcoming weeks and it is clear that they are both falling in love with each other and all believe that an engagement between them is imminent. Mr Bingley hardly notices any other young lady and we are told that several young ladies were very put out at the Netherfield ball as Mr Bingely did not ask them to dance.

Mr Bingley's biggest fault is that he is too easily persuaded by his sisters and Mr Darcy. When Bingley leaves Netherfield to go to London for a few days his sisters and Mr Darcy, who are quite concerned about his affection for Jane Bennet, see the opportunity and follow him to London. They persuade him that Jane is not in love with him, convince him to stay in London for the winter and conceal from him the fact that Jane, herself is in London.

We are not told anything about Mr Bingley from the time he leaves Netherfield in November to the time he meets Elizabeth in Derbyshire in the summer. All we know is that he was in London for the majority of that time. In London he would have gone to many balls and assemblies and met many charming young ladies and yet he cannot forget Jane Bennet and we know that as hard as she tries she cannot forget him. When Mr Bingley sees Elizabeth in Derbyshire she is pleased to see he knows exactly how long it is since they have seen each other as the last time he saw her was also the last time he saw Jane. He also tries to glean from Elizabeth as much information about Jane as possible without asking after her directly. When he does return to Netherfield he visits the Bennets often and it is not long before he proposes to Jane confessing that he has always loved her. She has no hesitation in accepting as she has never stopped loving him.

A wonderful love story, one of true love that does not die. It contradicts the saying 'out of sight, out of mind'. Mr Bingley would have had many distractions in London but from what we learn later in the story is that his love for Jane was so strong that she was never far from his thoughts.

Mr Bingley and Jane Bennet's love story does affect the better known one of Elizabeth and Mr Darcy. Mr Bingley introduces Jane to his sisters at the ball in Meryton and they soon invite her to Nethferfiled which is when she falls ill and this results in Elizabeth spending several days at Netherfield to nurse her sister but she also does get to know Mr Darcy in this time. Elizabeth learns that Mr Darcy is the one who persuaded Bingley not to marry Jane and this is one of the reasons she gives for rejecting his first proposal. Finally, because Mr Bingley is so eager to see much of Jane when he returns to Hertfordshire and then becomes engaged to her it means Mr Darcy and Elizabeth see much of each other and because Jane and Bingley are not interested in anyone but each other it also means Mr Darcy and Elizabeth have much time alone together which does result in Mr Darcy's second proposal.

So while the story of Elizabeth and Mr Darcy is a great and famous love story let us not forget that of Jane and Mr Bingley – a charming, romantic story of undying love that also had many effects on the love story we all know so well.

The Great Gatsby – An Analysis of Love

"If love is only a will to possess, it is not love." America in the 1920's was a country where moral values were decaying. Every American had one objective to achieve: success.

Francis Scott Fitzgerald, the author of The Great Gatsby, presents realistic image of American life in the 1920's. His characters, like many people of that period, only care for money; becoming rich is their main objective. As a result, their relationships, no longer based on love, fail.

All of the relationships in the novel are failures because they are not based on love, but on materialism.

One example of a failed relationship in The Great Gatsby is the adulterous affair between Tom Buchanan and Myrtle Wilson. This affair is based on mutual exploitation. Tom uses Myrtle for sex; Myrtle receives gifts and money in return. Tom Buchanan, a resident of East Egg, is "old money", so he looks down on everyone who is not from his class. Thus, he treats Myrtle as if she is trash. Myrtle Wilson, the wife of poor George Wilson, has become disenchanted with her 12 year old marriage of her husband's lack of success. Her desire for a better life is evident when she relates her first meeting with Tom:

"It was on the two little seats facing each other that are always the last ones left on the train. I was going up to New York to see my sister and spend the night. He had on a dress suit and patent leather shoes, and I couldn't keep my eyes off him, but every time he looked at me I had to pretend to be looking at the advertisement over his head. When we came into the station he was next to me, and his white shirt-front pressed against my arm, and so I told him I'd have to call a policeman, but he knew I lied. I was so excited that when I got into a taxi with him I didn't hardly know I wasn't getting into a subway train. All I kept thinking, over and over, was' You can't live forever; you can't live forever "(Fitzgerald 42).

Myrtle even believes that Tom will leave Daisy and marry her. In reality, Tom does not even see Myrtle as a person but as a sexual object. This is made clean by his degrading treatment of Myrtle at the party, especially when he breaks her nose for having the nerve to mention his wife's name:

'Daisy! Daisy! Daisy!' Mrs. Wilson shouted. I'll say it whenever I want to! Daisy! Dai – 'Making a short deft movement, Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand' (Fitzgerald 43).

The pathetic nature of their relationship is reinforced when she dies. After a fight with George Wilson, Myrtle runs away towards a golden car that she thinks is Tom's. The golden color of the car symbolizes money, the wealth that Myrtle so desires. Apparently, the car is driven by Daisy, another symbol of materialism, and what happens has a symbol of significance:

A moment later [Myrtle] rushed out into the dusk, waving her hands and shouting … The 'death car' as the newspapers called it, did not stop … Myrtle Wilson, her life violently extinguished, knelt in the road and mingled her thick dark blood with the dust … The mouth was wide open and ripped a little at the corners, as though she had choked a little in giving up the tremendous vitality she had stored so long (Fitzgerald 143-44).

The nature of the relationship between Tom and Myrtle is best symbolized by the expensive dog leash Tom had bought for Myrtle's puppy. It reflects the fact that Tom is the master, the one who controls his "pet" with money. As the master, Tom is free to do as he pleases. As the "dog", Myrtle receives gifts for proper behavior. The unequal status of Tom and Myrtle review the failure of their relationship, which, given its adulterous nature, was doomed to fail from the inception.

The Buchanan marriage is also a complete failure. It is the war that separated Daisy and Gatsby, and his absence is one of the reasons she married Tom. However, the most important factor was his money and status. Tom is from a rich family. He can give Daisy everything she wants. The wedding ceremony proved this:

In June [Daisy] married Tom Buchanan of Chicago, with more pomp and circumstance than Louisville ever knew before. He came down with a hundred people in four private cars, and hired a whole floor of the Muhlbach Hotel, and the day before the wedding he gave her a string of pearls valued at three hundred and fifty thousand dollars (Fitzgerald 82).

That is a marriage of convenience -not love-is apparent on several occasions in the novel. For example, while Daisy was giving birth to their only child, "Tom was God knows where" (Fitzgerald 23). Furthermore, Tom's philandering begins only after 3 months of his marriage. A newspaper account of Tom's accident mentions that the chambermaid he was with her broken arm. Of course, Daisy knows Tom ways too well; She even offers him her "little gold pencil" so that he gets the number of a "pretty but common" girl he is interested in at Gatsby's party, although Tom pretends to want to switch tables for another reason. The fact is that their marriage is founded upon wealth and power; That is what keeps them together, and what reveals how barren a marriage it is.

Gatsby is the one who tries to separate Tom and Daisy. It is Gatsby's dream to be reunited with Daisy, to go back to the past, and to marry Daisy. This is his incorruptible dream, as Gatsby tells Nick: "Can't repeat the past? ' [Gatsby] cried incredulously. 'Why of course you can!' "(Fitzgerald 117).

After reuniting with Daisy, Gatsby begins an affair that is made possible because he is extremely rich; Daisy is a materialist that can be lured by money. When they first reunite, Daisy shows little true emotion. It is only when he shows her his huge mansion and expensive possession that Daisy displays strong emotion. For example, as Gatsby shows her his expensive clothes from England; "Suddenly, with a strained sound, Daisy bent her head into the shirts and began to cry stormily" (Fitzgerald 99).

When the affair between Gatsby and Daisy is discovered, Tom and Gatsby confront each other over Daisy. In this crucial event, Daisy reveals her true view of her affair with Gatsby – that it was simply a way of filling in her empty days, an entertainment. It is also revenge for Tom's many adulterous affairs. Deep in her heart, she is not determined: "'Oh, you want too much!' [Daisy] cried to Gatsby. 'I love you now – isn't that enough? I can't help what's past.' She began to sob helplessly. 'I did love him once – but I loved you too' '(Fitzgerald 139).

Having betrayed Gatsby twice already, Daisy now betrays him for the final time – unwilling to face the consequence of Myrtle's death, Daisy and Tom conspire to frame Gatsby for the accident. Gatsby is then killed by George Wilson, as Tom has led him to believe that Gatsby is both Myrtle's lover and killer.

In the end, this relationship fails because Daisy values nothing but materialism; she does not even send a flower to Gatsby's fueral.

Love is essential in a relationship. However, materialism is essential of the relationship presented in The Great Gatsby. Those relationships are failures because they are founded on the physical rather than the spiritual. Fitzgerald shows that any relationships based on materialism will fail in the end.

Why Modern Home Design Is Oh So Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright was not only considered one of the world's greatest contemporary architects, but was also one of the most prolific and controversial public figures of his time. He was a writer, art collector, philosopher and visionary, all of which combined to inspire his craft. An outdoorsy child, Wright fell deeply in love with the Wisconsin landscape he explored as a boy. "The modeling of the hills, the weaving and fabric that clings to them, the look of it all in tender green or covered with snow or in full glow of summer that bursts into the glorious blaze of autumn," he later reminisced.

Widely known for four distinct architectural styles, his work stemmed from his belief that buildings should be made from the land, and benefit the land.

  • Prairie: born out of his belief that we needed fewer, larger rooms that flowed more easily and incorporated low pitched roofs, overhanging eaves, a central chimney, and open floor plans which, he believed, was the antidote to the confined, closed-in look of the Victorian era.
  • Textile: these took on a more linear approach, combined with influences from Mayan architecture.
  • Organic: this drew from natural resources, combined with the influence of Japanese architecture.
  • Usonian: smaller than his sprawling Prairie style residences, these contained little ornamentation and lacked basements or attics. These houses were set up into zones, typically with three areas: living space, small bedrooms, and a kitchen-dining area. Built-in components and furniture allowed homeowners to appreciate the simpler, integrated space Wright intended.

Frank Lloyd Wright was clearly a man ahead of his time. The design of many of his homes once seemed light-years ahead of their time, and people often had trouble understanding his vision, yet almost all of our modern home design and custom home building construction puts to use the ideals he thought so important.

The works of Frank Lloyd Wright are unique. No two homes or buildings look alike. He built according to his vision of what the future would be. He saw the need for homes to be more fluid, more open, more liveable, and less restrained. His architecture both documented a time in history and yet managed to push the envelope with his modern philosophical approach to the future of building.

Wright stood for clean lines and simplicity. He believed that a well-built building complemented its environment and surrounding. He disliked the intricate detail and fussiness of the architectural styles that preceded him. His ideals, words and foresight continue to be used as inspiration for modern home design and custom home builders. The echoes of his style are evident in many of the contemporary homes we see designed today.

A Good Investment Strategy to Make Money Investing

Whether the year is 2011, 2012 or 2020 – here's a good investment strategy to make money investing without a crystal ball. Any good investment plan considers both investment selection and timing. If you can't make money investing with this simple strategy, rest assured that only the few and the lucky will make money.

Before you stress over putting together a good investment strategy for 2011 and going forward, ask yourself the obvious question. Where do most successful people invest (or where have they in the past) to make money investing over the long term? The answer before the financial crisis was bonds, stocks and real estate. The answer today for the average investor is the same and takes the simple form of bond funds, stock funds and equity real estate funds. In the final analysis, if all three of these investment areas tank – we're likely in a depression and only a lucky few folks or smart speculators will make money investing.

Good investment strategy does not rely on speculation or trying to time the markets. No matter what you hear, no one has a proven and consistent record in market timing that beats the markets significantly over the long term. If they did they'd make a ton of money investing, and they'd hide their secrets, not share them. So, why not settle for a good investment strategy that makes only one major assumption: that the USA will grow and prosper over the long term?

Investing money in the three areas above is simple with mutual funds. To lower your risk and add flexibility to your investment strategy, add a fourth fund type called a money market fund. At today's interest rates these might not look like a good investment, but they are safe and earn interest that tracks current rates. Getting more specific, by owning just 4 different funds you can put together a good investment strategy for 2011 and beyond and make money by investing in America's future. In order from high safety to higher risk and greater profit potential: a money market, intermediate-term bond, large-cap equity-income, and equity real estate fund is all you need to own.

A good investment strategy to get your feet wet is to simply invest equal money in all 4 funds. Timing strategy requires no judgment calls or guessing. One year later and once a year after that, you simply move money around to make all 4 funds equal in value again. This automatically forces you to take some money off the table from your better-performing funds – and to move more money into those that did not as well. The net result over time is that you are buying more shares when prices are down, are selling shares that are relatively expensive.

This is also a good way to make money investing over the long term while keeping a lid on risk. Simply buying and holding funds is not a good investment strategy, and has gotten many average investors in trouble in the past. For example, real estate funds were good investments for multiple years until they were nailed by the financial crisis. Had you owned them and just held on, by 2009 you could have had a significant amount of money accumulated and at risk there … resulting in big losses as a result of the financial crisis.

There's more than just simplicity involved in what I am calling a good investment strategy for 2011 and well beyond. This strategy employs two of the only time-tested tools in the investment business: BALANCE & REBALANCE and DOLLAR COST AVERAGING. The first tool keeps you on track while keeping a lid on risk, and the second is the tool that works to lower your average cost of investing by having you buy more shares when prices are lower and fewer when they are high.

You can put a good investment strategy together with only moderate risk by owning just 4 different mutual funds. Can Python Web Applications Be Tested Using Selenium?

Python is currently more popular than other modern programming languages. The interpreted and object-oriented programming language is also hugely popular among developers across the world as a strong server side scripting language. As Python enables developers to express concepts by writing less and readable code, it becomes easier for programmers to reduce the development time significantly. At the same time, the developers also have option to use popular web frameworks like Django to create high-performing and complex Python web applications rapidly. However, the developers still need to assess the look, feel and performance of the Python web application thoroughly to boost its popularity and profitability.

While testing the internet applications the developers have option to choose from a number of browser automation tools like PAMIE, PyXPCOM, windmill, SST and Selenium. But most developers prefer Selenium to other frameworks to test their Python web applications efficiently. Unlike other web browser automation tools, Selenium allows testing professionals to write test scripts in a number of languages including Python, C #, Java, PHP, Ruby and Python. So the testers have option to test the Python web application by writing test scripts in Python. There are also a number of reasons why developers across the world use Selenium for testing Python web applications.

Why QA Professionals Prefer Using Selenium for Testing Python Web Applications?

Supports Major Operating Systems and Web Browsers

At present, Selenium supports all major operating systems and web browsers. The framework currently supports both Microsoft Windows and Linux. Likewise, it is compatible with most popular web browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera. The compatibility makes it easier for QA professionals to test the Python web application tools across multiple platforms and web browsers without writing separate codes, or using additional test automation tools. Selenium further comes with features to generate and execute test scripts automatically across different web browsers and systems simultaneously.

Allows Users to Create Complete Test Automation Suite

The Selenium testing professionals can create a complete test automation suite by combining Selenium WebDriver and Selenium IDE. They can use Selenium WebDriver to quickly create browser-based regression automation suites and tests. Further, they can scale and distribute the test scripts across multiple environments. The Selenium IDE, on the other hand, makes it easier for testers to create bug-reproduction scripts rapidly. Thus, the QA professionals can combine distinct parts of Selenium to create a complete test automation tool, without requiring any licensed or third-party APIs.

Executes Tests Faster

To identify all bugs and performance issues in the web applications, QA professionals have to perform tests repeatedly and frequently. But the testers also have to complete all tests within a limited amount of time. Selenium allows testing professionals to take advantage of cloud-based testing grids to boost the performance of their test runs. In addition to optimizing the test infrastructure, these tools further enable testers to run parallel tests. Thus, it becomes easier for the testers to execute tests quickly and repeatedly. The testers also have option to choose from several open source cloud-based functional testing grids to avoid increased project overheads.

Requires Basic HTML Concepts

Selenium supports a number of modern programming languages. But while testing a Python web application, it requires only basic HTML concepts. HTML is used for describing a web page, whereas individual HTML tags represent document content. Thus, HTML tags decide how the content is appears on the web browsers. Selenium divides the HTML elements or attributes into three distinct categories, ie, single, group and customized. It locates single elements by their id, link or link text, whereas the group elements are identified based on combined values or index property. So it becomes easier for testers to find out the location of the defect or bug. The feature makes it easier for them to identify the exact bugs and performance issues quickly.

Helps Testers to Address Maintainability Issues

In addition to creating and executing test scripts quickly, QA professionals are also required to maintain the test cases effectively. Selenium helps testers to overcome maintainability issues by structuring the automated test code using a pattern called page objects. The page objects focuses on the structure of HTML code of a particular web page instead of checking how the services are implemented. Thus, testers can take advantage of page objects to locate the code easily, navigate between various web pages smoothly, and making changes only once. As most Selenium code will be located inside page objects, the testers can easily increase the code base without adding fresh Selenium code.

Provides Selenium Python API

As noted earlier, Python supports several programming languages including Python. So the testers have option to write test scripts in Python. Also, they can use Selenium Python API to write acceptance and functional tests by accessing Selenium WebDrivers like common, support, chrome, Firefox, ie, remote and phantomjs. The most recent version of the API further supports multiple versions of Python including 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 and 2.7. It can further be accessed simply by downloading and installing the Selenium Python bindings. Thus, an organization can leverage the skills of existing Python programmers to perform acceptance and functional testing efficiently.

Works with Several Testing Frameworks

While testing the Python web application with Selenium, QA professionals have option to use a number of test framework. At present, the portable web browser automation framework works with Pytest, PyUnit, unittest, and robot framework. As a part of Python 2.1 standard library, PyUnit enables testers to write tests easily, and execute multiple tests in text or GUI mode. Likewise, pytest comes with a number of features that help testers to write better programs. So the QA professional can take advantage of these test frameworks to ensure that the Python web application delivers flawless user experience across many web browsers.

Python is an open source programming language, whereas Selenium is an open source web browser automation tool. Thus, organizations can use the programming language and web testing tool together to bring down the project costs. However, the combination will further enable them test the application across major web browsers within a stipulated amount of time.
